Welcome! Thanks for reading my blog and following along on my journey as a new writer!
Last year at a writing conference, I met an author who summed up trying to write professionally like this, “If you can stop writing, you probably should.”
His point was, writing for anything more than just the sheer joy of it is hard. The publishing world is not for anyone with a lily liver, and if you are trying to get words published, from flash fiction to novels, you should turn back if you know what’s good for you. Unless of course, you can’t.
I seem to be one of those souls who can’t. I get the image of myself on a thin, stone bridge, pebbles falling away on each side into deep, black abyss of nothing. I’m crossing over into who-knows-what, but like anyone with a strong creative edge, I am compelled. Maybe you can understand. Maybe you can relate.
I’ve recently finished writing a book entitled, Save Her, and I hope you will join me on my quest to find an agent and publisher, as well as my journey through trying to get my stories published in literary journals.
My writing is in the crime, thriller, and mystery genres, though I may explore beyond that into weird or science fiction. I am not sure where it all comes from, but I try not to question it too much. As a new writer, I’m just excited to be here.
A few years ago, I finally gave myself permission to call myself a writer, and start doing the things that could make it so. I started actually writing. Talking to people about my writing. I joined a critique group. Much more recently, I started submitting my writing. Now, I’m asking you to join me. I hope you will by joining the newsletter below.
If you join the newsletter, you’ll not only stay up-to-date on my writing journey, but you’ll also get writing news, crime, thriller and mystery short stories, and other posts right to your inbox.
Hope to see you!
